About the Journal

The National Medical Journal of India, a publication of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, is a peer-reviewed print and online journal. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive the final accepted version of their articles on any OAI-compliant institutional or subject-based repository.


Aims & Scope

The journal will cover technical and clinical studies related to health, and ethical and social issues in the field of health policy and health provider training, through dedicated sections on Medicine and Society and Medical Education. Articles with clinical interest and implications will be given preference.

Audience

Our audience includes readers and practitioners from medical science, through experimentation, observation, theoretical knowledge, and practical exposure.

Review process

NMJI has a highly rigorous peer-review process that ensures manuscripts are scientifically accurate, relevant, novel, and important. Authors disclose all conflicts, affiliations, and financial associations so that published content is not biased. The journal follows a double-blind review process.

Editorial Team

The editorial board comprises a panel of experts from various disciplines of medical and allied sciences who provide their expertise and guidance in maintaining the clarity of content and focus of the journal.

Journal Ethics

The National Medical Journal of India is committed to meeting and upholding standards of ethical behavior at all stages of the publication process. We follow closely the industry associations, such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), that set standards and provide guidelines for best practices.

Plagiarism Policy

The journal uses plagiarism check software on the Editor's and Reviewer's panel in the manuscript management system, which is used to check and control plagiarism for each article. Any manuscript found to have plagiarism is rejected.

Archival Policy

We use a third-party repository for all articles published with us. All articles are assigned a DOI number. We are a member of Crossref.

Open Access Publication and Creative Commons Licensing

The National Medical Journal of India is an open-access journal, and manuscripts published are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 License (CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0), which allows others to remix, transform, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given and new creations are licensed under identical terms.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. The journal has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content are not biased or influenced by the advertisement. The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
